The lady with rosy pink saree,
Clinging to the yellow grab handle
During the blue metro city bus journey,
Drew my attention for some minutes
This shade is not often seen in busy cities,
Just in fairs, where cute little children are spotted licking
Their favourite cotton sweets,
Wrapped in lengthy sleeky sticks
And their tiny feet ground kicking
For getting dragged hurriedly
By their tricky wicky parents
Who don’t even allow them to swallow the sweet essence.
Have heard people being made fun for wearing these shades
Getting tagged as less civilised, or getting marked as country cousins
Thus could not stop admiring this courageous country woman
Who proudly could carry this rare bright saree
And freely move around in a real happening city
Where many more people are bereft of their freedom
For their lives are fixed like children in fairs.

Loosing the game of love, makes one appreciate the importance of life. Love is life or life is love, these lines remain powerless and the certainty is, love and life are the two faces of the same coin. Love is emotion while life is realistic. Emotions keep away realism and realism does not allow emotions. Life still exists when there is no love but love becomes extinct when there is no life.

‘Genius’ is the word that is being used generously these days I believe.
When people are so thankful to someone serving them ‘baby meals’ and are adding all available superlatives to their names, I wonder what could be offered to some one who served them ‘full meals’.
During those days, when a soundtrack was released, it was a feast to everyone. I say, it was a golden period and should be remembered and appreciated for many years to come. Still remember the evening when we got the LP of ‘Noorie’ from the audio shop and played it for 'n' number of times. ‘Noorie’ with Khayyamji’s music was released in the year 1979. Everyone was pulled towards Khayyam’s 'Kamaal'. He followed a different style and had never compromised with melody. The title song ‘Noorie-Noorie’ sung by Nitin Mukesh and Lata mangeshkar was very popular. I still remember that I refused to watch the movie only because the story had a tragic ending. ‘Noorie’ also had ‘chori chori koyi aaye’, a solo by Lata. The beautiful lyrics are penned by Jan Nissar Akhtar and Naqah Layalpuri.
Excellent tabla work,Just love the rhythm patterns.

Remembering a navaratri eve when the kids of the colony performed this song. Their tender voices are still ringing in the ears. The song from ‘Kala Pathar’ was composed by Rajesh Roshan and performed by Lata and Rafi. With all the natural sounds, it surely lets us lighten up.  Impressive lyrics are  by Sahir Ludianvi. Those were the days when ‘Mausam was always Deewana’ with songs like this. Every actor used to ensure that the music in his movie remained melodious. The meaning of music itself was melody in those days. This peppy number from the movie ‘Warrant’ was the favorite of many. Waiting for this song in ‘Chitrahaar’ was really  enjoyable. With the combination of so many natural instruments, the  prelude and the interludes sound amazing. Added to the beauty is Kishore Kumar’s effortless singing. Music composed by R.D.Burman and lyrics beautifully penned by Anand Bhakshi, this film was released in 1975.

Jaidev is one of the composers whose usage of various instruments for composing  is unique. The 'guitars', 'violins' , 'drum's, and 'trumpet' in interludes is a feast to the ears.
Written by 'Gulzar' and performed smoothly by Runa laila. Get immeresed in organic music once again!

The days when treating myself with these melodies in the morning and evening was a practice, waiting for this song in radio ceylon’s Hindi service ‘aap hi ke geet’ was joyful and is still cherished. I could treasure this eternal gift in my little mind after savouring it's beauty a number of times.
Just listen to the opening piece and the interludes... the flute..the sitar...bulbul.. awesome work... and Lata's humming...there are no words to describe her performance. Can there be anything more natural than this. In the year 1983, the ears of the music lovers received a stream of melodies from Maestro Ilayaraja, who presented a unique form of music which was a perfect blend of western and Indian musical forms. He applied this form of music to match every kind of mood that is demanded by situations in Indian films.
Producing innovative tunes and incredible interludes with violins,flutes, guitars etc is a piece of cake for Him. This song from the movie 'Sadma', beautifully rendered by Suresh Wadkar is still the favourite of many.

One more instance of purity and simplicity. This song reflects the attitude of the people during those days. Minds were less disturbed hence more matured. I remember listening to this song in various radio stations and imagining the beauty of the song. It was when the doordarshan aired the movie 'Humjoli' on one Sunday evening, we could enjoy the clean picturization of the song. Tune was set by Laxmikant pyarelal and the beautiful lyric was by Anand Bakshi. Can’t stop admiring the velvety voices of Rafi and Asha.

when my mind gets distressed by witnessing the merriment going around over the spurious music by some ignorant and nefarious music lovers, I call to my mind the music that i was brought up with. Before long, peace comes to me. I once again start thinking how precious life is and how much blessed our generation is.
